Seda Blasts Missed Chances After Kariobangi Sharks Held to Draw by AFC Leopards
Kariobangi Sharks assistant coach Edward Seda was left fuming after his side threw away a 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 with AFC Leopards in their FKF Premier League clash at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.
Seda, standing in for head coach William Muluya who was away with the Junior Stars at the Cecafa U17 Championships, said AFC Leopards were “lucky to get a draw,” blaming the collapse of Sharks’ game plan on the injury to their scorer Humphrey Aroko.
His exit, Seda explained, disrupted their structure. “He helped us keep the ball and release our forwards. After his injury, we had to change to an out-and-out striker,” he said. Despite their relegation-zone position, Seda maintained: “We have just not been winning games but everything else is okay.”
Aroko had given Sharks an early lead but his exit disrupted their structure, forcing a tactical change that saw the team lose their grip in the match.
Despite Sharks’ struggles and their position in the relegation zone, Seda noted that everything else about the team was okay except for their inability to win games.
AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani praised his forward Victor Omune for leveling the match with a 61st-minute header from a free kick but criticized the refereeing, accusing them of having a “fixed mind.”
The draw leaves Kariobangi Sharks in 17th place with 7 points, while AFC Leopards sit third on the league table with 14 points as they prepare for the Mashemeji Derby against Gor Mahia.
The result was frustrating for Sharks as they had chances to win, including late free kicks and attempts that narrowly missed the target.
