KeNHA Orders 14-Hour Closure of Nairobi Southern Bypass for 2025 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of the Nairobi Southern Bypass from Ole Sereni Interchange to Kikuyu Town to facilitate the 2025 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.
The closure will last for 14 hours, starting at midnight on Saturday, October 25, 2025, and ending at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public on the temporary closure of Nairobi Southern Bypass from Ole Sereni Interchange to Kikuyu Town on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Midnight to Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 2.00 pm,” read the notice.
“This is to allow for the 2025 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.”
During this period, the Nairobi Southern Bypass will be inaccessible to motorists. They are advised to use alternative routes, notably Mombasa Road (A8) connecting through Uhuru Highway, with traffic marshals and police officers directing drivers.
“All road users are further advised to follow the traffic signs and guidance as directed by traffic marshals and the police,” KeNHA advised.
Several diversion routes have been specified to accommodate traffic from key points such as Karen Shopping Centre, Langata Road, the Industrial Commercial District, and others to ensure smoother flow during the closure.
KeNHA emphasized compliance with traffic signs and officers’ guidance to mitigate disruptions, urging road users to plan ahead and observe safety protocols during the marathon event.
This closure is part of KeNHA’s routine management of road use during special events and aims to ensure the safety of all participants and the public while maintaining order on critical transport arteries in Nairobi.
