New horror as more graves discovered at Kwa Binzaro near Shakahola

Homicide detectives uncovered 13 new graves at Kwa Binzaro near Shakahola, raising fresh fears of another mass cult-related tragedy in the region.

Homicide detectives on Friday revisited Kwa Binzaro to prepare for the exhumation of eight graves initially discovered late last month. However, during their mapping of the area, they uncovered even more disturbing findings.

In various parts of the five-acre parcel now secured for investigation, detectives found additional burial sites. A total of 13 fresh graves were identified during the latest search of the crime scene.

Kwa Binzaro is located near Shakahola, the site of a previous cult-related tragedy that claimed the lives of over 400 people, most of them children.

This new discovery brings the death toll in the Kwa Binzaro case to 11. Some graves appeared to have been disturbed by wild animals, with human bones visible at several sites. Authorities suspect the victims may have died from starvation, mirroring the circumstances of the Shakahola massacre.

Unlike the more exposed graves in Shakahola, those in Kwa Binzaro were discreetly hidden deep in the surrounding bushland.

According to homicide unit head Martin Nyuguto, the breakthrough in locating the additional graves came after interrogations and confessions from suspects arrested in the area, which has now officially been declared a crime scene.

Investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to track down other suspects who are still at large. Meanwhile, families of missing persons believed to have relocated to the area are being urged to come forward and provide DNA samples to aid in the identification of the bodies once exhumations begin.

Authorities believe the victims may have been followers of Good News International, the controversial religious group linked to Paul Mckenzie—the alleged orchestrator of the Shakahola massacre.
