Judiciary is set to integrate AI in its court operations

Kenya's Judiciary announces new framework to guide the integration of Artificial Intelligence tools to improve court operations while maintaining judicial independence and data privacy.
The Judiciary is taking a significant step toward embracing the future of technology with the launch of a new framework aimed at guiding the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve its operations.
During a joint engagement in Nairobi between Kenya’s Supreme Court and Ethiopia’s Federal Supreme Court, Chief Justice Martha Koome emphasized the importance of the new policy in managing the use of AI within Kenya’s judicial system.
“To ensure ethical, safe, and purposeful adoption, we are developing the Judiciary Artificial Intelligence Adoption Policy Framework to guide integration of AI tools while safeguarding judicial independence, data privacy, and due process,” CJ Koome stated.
