Massive IEBC Recruitment: 12,520 Election Jobs Open for Kenyans Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has launched a major recruitment drive for 12,520 temporary positions to support upcoming electoral activities, as highlighted in our recent coverage.

In a statement on Wednesday, February 25, the commission confirmed that it will undertake a 30- day enhanced voter registration exercise at the ward level.

“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will undertake a thirty (30)-day Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise at the ward level,” the statement read in part.

These roles are crucial for preparations toward the 2027 general elections, including voter registration and by-elections. This opportunity targets unemployed youth and qualified Kenyans nationwide, offering daily wages from Ksh 1,000 to Ksh 2,500.

“To facilitate the efficient and effective delivery of this nationwide exercise, the Commission invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill temporary positions for the duration of the ECVR period,” the statement read.

The body has set a deadline for submitting applications for the temporary positions in the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

“Applications should be received online not later than 4th March 2026,” the Commission stated.

Key Job Roles Available

IEBC is hiring for diverse temporary positions such as Voter Registration Clerks, Presiding Officers (Pos), Deputy Presiding Officers (DPOs), Polling/Counting Clerks, ICT Clerks, Ward-Based Voter Educators, and Support Electoral Trainers (SETs).

Voter Registration Clerks at Huduma Centres will handle biometric kits, verify eligibility, and ensure data security, earning Ksh 1,500 daily.

Pos and DPOs oversee polling stations, with pay at Ksh 2,000 and Ksh 1,800 per day respectively, while ICT Clerks manage KIEMS kits for Ksh 1,500 daily.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged 19 and above, with a minimum KCSE C- (minus) or equivalent, computer literacy, and ICT skills.

A diploma in fields like ICT, Statistics, Education, or Business Administration is an advantage, alongside traits like integrity and confidentiality.

Roles demand non-partisanship, readiness for extended hours, and local residency for some positions.

“Applicants must not have held office or stood for election as a candidate or party agent in the last five (5) years,” IEBC clarified.

“Successful applicants will be required to undergo training and take an oath of secrecy,” the body instructed.
