Truphena Muthoni’s 72-Hour Tree Embrace: Guinness Awaits Proof Amid Global Buzz.

Kenya’s environmental activist Truphena Muthoni completed a grueling 72-hour tree-hugging marathon in Nyeri, surpassing her prior 48-hour feat from February 2025.

Guinness World Records clarified it has not yet received evidence for certification, responding to social media queries by stating it anticipates the submission.

The clarification came after a social media user by the name Maasai questioned why GWR had not acknowledged Muthoni’s attempt.

“So guys you’re not recognizing Truphena Muthoni after breaking the world record of 72hrs of hugging a tree,” Maasai asked.

In response, the organization stated that it looks forward to receiving the evidence of Truphena attempt.

“We look forward to receiving the evidence,” Guinness World Records replied.

Guinness emphasized strict verification rules, including continuous HD footage with visible hands throughout the attempt.

The organization replied directly to a user questioning the lack of recognition: “We look forward to receiving the evidence.”

This follows Muthoni’s start on December 8, 2025, at 12:20 p.m., ending amid harsh weather near Nyeri Governor’s office.

The 22-year-old aimed to spotlight indigenous trees, communities, and disability inclusivity, including a three-hour blindfold segment.

She broke Ghanaian Abdul Hakim Awal’s 24-hour record earlier and now pushes for official global status. Supporters rallied on-site, with hundreds witnessing her endurance.

Requirements For Video Evidence

To verify your record attempt, full video footage is crucial it helps the Records Management Team confirm everything and cross-check witness reports.

- The video should cover the entire attempt from beginning to end, no matter how long it takes.

- For long events like “marathon” attempts, if you need to change batteries or tapes, use a second camera to keep recording so nothing is missed.

- If your attempt runs for over an hour, try to note key moments and include timestamps to help reviewers navigate the footage.

- Most importantly, make sure the camera stays focused on the action so judges can clearly see and assess what’s happening.

- Show the measurement of the record for example, counting participants, weighing an item, or tracking progress (like tallying push-ups).

- Make sure every important part of the attempt is recorded, including prep work if it’s relevant (like cooking a large food item before it’s officially measured).

- It’s helpful to start the video with a quick intro: say your name or organisation, the application reference number, the record you’re attempting, and name the independent witnesses present.

- Avoid background music it’s important that the actual sounds from the attempt are clearly heard.

- If you’re using a phone, try to film in landscape mode for the best view.
