Wetang’ula, Kibwana, Noordin Haji Among 54 Lawyers Recommended for Senior Counsel Rank
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has recommended 54 prominent lawyers for conferment of the prestigious Senior Counsel (SC) rank in the 2025 cycle.
This follows a rigorous review of applications under the Advocates (Senior Counsel Conferment and Privileges) Rules, 2011, with the committee announcing its selections on December 3, 2025.
High-profile figures leading the list include National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, National Intelligence Service Director General Noordin Haji, and former Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana.
Other notable recommendations feature former LSK President Isaac Okero, commercial lawyer Adil Khawaja, and Data Protection Commissioner Immaculate Kassait.
The full list emerged from 105 initial applicants, vetted for irreproachable conduct and exemplary service to the legal profession and public .
LSK’s committee evaluated submissions pursuant to Rules 7 and 10, focusing on criteria like professional excellence and public service contributions.
The recommendations now await presidential approval for formal conferment, potentially expanding Kenya’s elite SC bar, currently led by Chairperson Philip Murgor .
