Security Guard Shot Dead During Early Morning Robbery at Kahawa West Liquor Store

A security guard was killed in a brutal robbery at a liquor store in Kahawa West, Nairobi, during the early hours of Wednesday, December 3.

.

The assailants broke into the premises around 4 a.m., vandalized the CCTV system, and stole goods worth approximately KSh 2.5 million.

The store owner, Nicholas Mwongera, was alerted to the incident by neighbors around 7 a.m. and promptly reported the crime to the Kahawa West Police Station.

Residents in the area have expressed increasing concern over the rising insecurity, linking the surge in crime to a prolonged power outage after Kenya Power removed a transformer three weeks ago and has not yet replaced it, leaving the neighborhood in darkness.

The victim, a Maasai man believed to be around 40 years old, was mourned by the community, which described the killing as shocking and tragic.

Locals suspect that the robbers may have used boda bodas (motorcycles) to execute the heist.

Police investigations into the attack are ongoing, and authorities have assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects.

The incident highlights continuing security challenges in Kahawa West, with residents calling for improved police response and enhanced measures to curb crime in the area.
