CCTV FOOTAGE IDENTIFIES SUSPECTS IN BODA BODA RIDER MURDER IN SOUTH B NAIROBI
Nairobi residents and law enforcement are deeply shocked following the brutal murder of a boda boda rider, Antony Otieno, whose death has now come under intense police investigation aided by revealing CCTV footage.
The tragic incident occurred in the Meridian Apartments in South B, Nairobi, where the victim was found dead under mysterious and violent circumstances.
Reports says that the chilling CCTV footage shows Antony Otieno arriving at the Meridian building, carrying a blue bag containing a delivery package.
After taking the elevator to the fourth floor, he is seen making a phone call, presumably to coordinate the delivery.
Soon after, a series of suspicious movements involving three men is recorded: one seen exiting a room with the bag, two hurrying down the stairs, and a third man, half-dressed, rushing while carrying the same package.
Their anxiety and haste are clear, as they are later captured entering a Nissan Note car and fleeing the scene.
Further investigation revealed that the rental room where the murder took place had been booked for a month shortly before the incident.
The owner, Charity Muthoni, expressed suspicion after the guests failed to settle their bill and was alarmed to discover blood stains on the floor upon inspecting the room after retrieving the bag.
The body of Antony Otieno was discovered tied with his hands and legs bound, and a scarf stuffed in his mouth, confirming a violent death.
An autopsy report indicated blunt force trauma to the head as the cause of death.
The order Antony was fulfilling had been placed via WhatsApp by an individual claiming to be in Eldoret, who said his brother Hillary would collect the phone from the South B apartment.
This elaborate setup is believed to have been part of a premeditated plan to murder.
Police have recovered a knife and a metal rod believed to have been used in the attack, along with the phone Antony was delivering.
The suspects are currently being hunted, with the CCTV footage proving crucial in their identification and pursuit.
The terrifying event has raised alarm about the safety of delivery workers and boda boda riders, many of whom are vulnerable to such violent crimes in urban areas.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work tirelessly to bring justice for Antony Otieno and ensure safety measures are strengthened for last-mile delivery and motorbike riders across Nairobi.
