DUTCH NATIONAL ELWIN TER HORST DEPORTED AFTER ASSAULTING KENYAN GIRLFRIEND
Elwin Ter Horst, a Dutch national, has been deported from Kenya following a disturbing incident in Diani, Kwale County, where he assaulted his Kenyan girlfriend and was caught on camera spitting on police officers at Diani Police Station.
According to police reports and viral video footage, Ter Horst was detained after causing a disturbance at Boma Banda Cottage, where he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Angela Atieno Onduru, and caused property damage.
When police arrived, they found the girlfriend rescued and taken to Diani Beach Hospital.
The video that surfaced showed Ter Horst, intoxicated and uncooperative, insulting and spitting mucus and saliva at a male police officer while in custody.
This act fueled public outrage, especially since it was revealed that Ter Horst was staying in Kenya illegally with an expired passport.
Msambweni Police Commander Robinson Lagat condemned Ter Horst’s actions and confirmed charges against him including assault, possession of narcotics, malicious damage to property, disturbance, and illegal stay in the country.
Authorities swiftly processed his deportation following his arraignment in court.
Ter Horst apologized publicly, attributing his behavior to a psychotic episode linked to stress and lack of medication.
“I had a psychosis; I need my medicine… I did not have water and food for a long time,” Horst further stated.
Nonetheless, Kenyan authorities have enforced the law firmly, emphasizing zero tolerance for foreign nationals who violate local rules.
