The report spotlights extreme habits: one customer hit 718 orders (nearly two daily), another splurged Sh109,000 on drinks, and a “Lover’s Marathon” feast cost Sh80,400 proving delivery apps are reshaping urban eating.

This mirrors Gen Z’s street food evolution and social media potlucks, blending global chains with homegrown twists like masala chicken.

Comfort, speed, and variety explain the surge, as platforms weave into daily life supporting eateries, riders, and households. Uber Eats GM Kui Mbugua calls it a digital food revolution, poised to influence menus nationwide.

“Every order supports a courier, strengthens a local business, and brings more convenience and choice to customers. This is the food economy Kenya is building, and we’re proud to be part of it,” she said.

From Nairobi highs to coastal vibes, fried chicken signals bolder tastes and app reliance, turning “kookoo” cravings into a 2025 economic story.
