KRA ANNOUNCES 4-HOURS SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE FOR DOMESTIC TAX SYSTEM

The maintenance will last for four hours, during which the system will be temporarily unavailable to all users. The exercise will begin at 8pm and ends at 12.00 am according to the issued notice on Friday October, 24,2025.

“Please be advised that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iTax from Saturday, 25th October 2025, 8:00 PM to Sunday, 26th October 2025, 12:00 AM,” read the notice.

This downtime is necessary to ensure the iTax system operates smoothly and reliably for all tax-related transactions.

KRA has urged taxpayers and users of the iTax system to plan their tax filings and payments ahead of the scheduled maintenance period to avoid any inconvenience.

The authority apologizes for any disruptions this may cause and stresses the importance of this upkeep for enhancing the overall service.

Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted.”

About iTax

It is a key tool in KRA’s efforts to streamline tax collection and improve taxpayer compliance.

The iTax system is an online, web-based platform introduced by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to manage domestic tax processes in Kenya efficiently.

It allows individual and business taxpayers to perform key activities such as registering for a Personal Identification Number (PIN), filing tax returns, applying for tax compliance certificates, generating payment slips, and making tax payments online.

It also enables taxpayers to check their tax account status, access their tax ledgers, and receive communications from KRA in real time.

By automating many tax administration functions like registration, assessment, payment, and auditing, iTax facilitates quicker, secure, and more transparent tax compliance.

It supports multiple payment channels, including mobile money services like M-Pesa and Airtel Money, making it convenient for taxpayers. The system also helps KRA monitor compliance, reduce fraud, and improve revenue collection.

To use iTax, taxpayers simply log in to the platform via itax.kra.go.ke with their PIN and password, where they can access their accounts, file returns, pay taxes, and request certificates anytime and from anywhere.

KRA also offers free training on iTax every month to help users navigate the system effectively.

This scheduled maintenance reflects KRA’s commitment to maintaining an efficient, secure, and user-friendly tax system for Kenyans, supporting the country’s broader revenue collection and development goals.
